Tatler occupies one of Queenstown's oldest buildings, the General Store, built in 1863. Part of Queenstown's Historical Trail, Tatler is an easy stroll from Queenstown accommodation.

Tatler's chef has embraced unique New Zealand ingredients and presents these with passion and flair. Seafood, game, lamb and beef are Chef's specialties with mouth-watering vegetarian options also available.

The main restaurant can accommodate up to 70 guests with seating for an additional 40 upstairs in the Spectator Room and its balcony.

Tatler is across the road from our sister restaurant Prime so we are able to split groups easily between the two venues if necessary.

Private Dining

Tatler's upstairs Spectator Room is a popular venue for pre-dinner drinks when a group takes sole use of the restaurant. For smaller groups, the Spectator is an ideal environment for a private dinner party and:

• Seats 28 guests for a sit-down meal inside and another 12 on the balcony;
• Accommodates 60 guests for drinks and canapés;
• Has an in-built data projector;
• Has its own open fire;
• Its heated balcony has lake and mountain views and looks down onto the Mall below;
• Has a private upstairs bathroom;
• Features a fully-stocked bar and cash, eftpos and credit card facilities.
• Is licenced until 1.30 am for guests to enjoy the outdoor ambience and lake views on the balcony.

In addition to the Spectator Room, the rear section of the main downstairs restaurant can be curtained off to create a private feel for group dinners of up to 30 guests.

Instead of a hire fee, exclusive use of Tatler's faciliities is provided according to spend. Minimum spend requirements are described here.

Recent Feedback from Functions at Tatler

Chris and I would just like to say a big thanks to you for all your help in organising our evening at the Tatler. We had an amazing time and all our guests had loads of fun, loved the food and commented on how having a wedding party around one large table was the best idea they'd ever seen.

We will highly recommend the Tatler to anyone looking to host a function, particularly a wedding party, as all of our small details were taken care of - the menus were classic (we've kept one inside our guest book) and the Spectator Room (and balcony) was decorated beyond our expectations. And lastly, the service on the evening was impeccable, the girls were so friendly towards all our guests and took a personal interest in our wedding -  and as a bride I was totally and honestly reassured that everything would be looked after and I had a fun and relaxed evening.

The services we received from the initial enquiry right through to post event was fantastic.  If is such a pleasure to work with a professional team when you are showcasing Queenstown to international conference groups.  We only wish that we could have a Jo Weir in all the destinations we work. I would like to thank you for your assistance in providing a fantastic experience for our group over the weekend. The Spectator Room was a perfect venue for our group on the Friday night and on the Saturday we ended up dining at Prime, which was ideal for our group of hungry men.  Next year is the 10th anniversary of our tournament and there is some talk of heading overseas to celebrate, however I am sure that given the success of this weekend we will be back in Queenstown for a number of years to come. Hi Jo,
We just wanted to say thanks for the wonderful night we had at Tatler on Wednesday night after our wedding. The venue looked great and the food was exceptional. Many of our guests commented that it was the best wedding food they had ever had.
